Although not a Sacrament, Quinceañeras are a tradition within the Catholic Church, and are normally celebrated around the child’s 15th birthday. They can, however, also be celebrated as a Sweet Sixteen if held on their 16th birthday.
In order to celebrate either occasion at St. Rose of Lima, the family should be registered in and attending the parish. We do make try to make allowances for those outside of the parish when requested.
Requirements are as follows:
1. The child must have been registered and attending Religious Education Classes or Catholic School for 2 years prior to the requested date of the celebration.
2. The child must attend a Quinceañera Retreat, either at St. Rose of Lima or elsewhere where they will learn more about this spiritual milestone.
3. The Mass may not be scheduled more than a year prior to the requested date of the event. All Masses are held on a Saturday at 1 p.m., with a rehearsal of the liturgy the Friday before, normally at 5 p.m.
